A multi-sensory experience to open dialogue on the conditions immigrants face
Home is an obscure and fleeting feeling for most immigrants. The US-Mexico border which takes many forms over varying terrains through its stretch of 3145 km has been a crucial geopolitical factor deciding the fate of millions of lives on both sides each year.
Separation from loved ones, inhuman treatment on detention and deportation make safety and comfort moving targets for undocumented immigrants. ‘Nowhere in the middle’ relooks at the border as a passage and an occupied physical environment to highlight suppressed stories that go unheard and unseen in an echo chamber fueled by media representation.
The passage derives its form from the shape of the US-Mexico’s border and exhibits real-life photos, audio stories and interview testimonials of immigrants.
